31 maart – WEBINAR: R – Learning session on Decoding Digital Sequence Information

IT for Change is excited to be co-hosting a learning session on “Decoding Digital Sequence Information: A Development Perspective”, with Third World Network, on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM IST. // 13:30 CET

This session, supported by FES, will provide an account of the debates on the digitalization of genetic sequence information in relation to biodiversity, health, agriculture, and food sovereignty. It will unpack the key development issues and concerns for the Global South, including the urgent need to grapple with the wholesale capture of data by corporations, and flag the possible directions forward — normative and political — for the democratic global governance of digital genomics.

Leading activists including Chee Yoke Ling (TWN), Edward Hammond (Prickly Research), and more will make presentations to kick-off this session. This is a unique opportunity for actors interested in digital and development justice to discuss the crucial issue of digital sequence information.
